Inmates Services Legal Help Goals

Inmates Services was created with a mission far greater than simply helping people navigate incarceration. Our long-term vision is to build one of the most impactful support and legal advocacy organizations in the country — focused on helping individuals successfully transition out of the Criminal Justice System and into stable, productive, law-abiding lives. We believe that real rehabilitation is about more than release dates and paperwork. It is about restoring families, rebuilding lives, creating opportunity, and helping people return to healthy living — being present for their children, contributing to their communities, building careers, and enjoying the freedoms and responsibilities that come with a meaningful life. No person should spend years trapped in cycles of incarceration without access to proper guidance, advocacy, support, and opportunity. At the center of this mission is the Legal Division of Inmates Services. Our vision is to build a national legal network capable of providing powerful, organized, and effective representation and advocacy on a scale rarely seen within Criminal Defense and Civil Rights work. Imagine combining the structure and strength of a major national law firm — with attorneys, paralegals, investigators, mitigation specialists, researchers, and support teams working together across multiple offices nationwide — while operating with a mission-driven focus centered on justice, accountability, fairness, and reform. Unlike traditional firms that are driven primarily by partner profits and billable-hour culture, the Inmates Services model seeks to reinvest legal resources directly into legal advocacy, case support, public-interest litigation, and expanded access to representation for underserved communities. The organization envisions a legal structure where funds generated through legal services are strategically directed back into operations, staffing, advocacy efforts, litigation support, and expanding access to high-quality legal assistance.

Our goal is to build a legal division that combines elements of:

A nationally recognized Criminal Defense firm
• A public-interest legal advocacy organization

• A Constitutional Rights and Civil Liberties organization similar in spirit to the ACLU
• A highly organized Public Defender support structure

• A major Class Action litigation team focused on systemic reform and accountability

The long-term objective is to develop one of the nation’s leading legal advocacy and reform organizations for individuals impacted by incarceration, supervision, sentencing disparities, constitutional violations, and systemic injustice — while also providing services to the general public.

This vision includes building specialized divisions focused on:

    Criminal Defense
 • Appeals & Post-Conviction Relief             • Habeas Corpus Litigation
 • Civil Rights Litigation                                 • Class Action Lawsuits
 • Prison & Jail Conditions                             •  Re-Entry Advocacy
 • Family Support Services                            • Investigations & Case Development
 • Legal Research & Policy Reform               • To build this foundation, Inmates Service

To build this foundation Inmates Services is actively seeking attorneys and legal professionals in multiple capacities, including:

• Volunteer Attorneys                                                     • Of Counsel Relationships
• Referral Partnerships                                                   • Contract Attorneys
• Hourly and On-Call Counsel                                       • Part-Time Legal Staff
• Full-Time Litigation Teams                                          • Investigators and Paralegals
• Legal Researchers and Law Students

The goal is not simply to create another law office. The goal is to build a nationwide legal advocacy movement made up of highly motivated professionals who are committed to protecting Constitutional Rights, improving accountability within the Criminal Justice System, and helping create meaningful, long-term change across the country. Inmates Services believes that justice works best when good people remain actively involved in protecting it.
