BOOKS AND MAGAZINES

Books & Magazines are important for certain inmates to be able to get. Many don't have much money and their people on the streets may also not have enough money to be able to buy and send them, even a $10 or $20 book, in many cases they just don't need to beg and have to ask for more help. It is extremely debilitating to not be able to buy a book that you want.

We do that, now, an inmate may buy a book or subscribe to a magazine through our services. In fact, we make it so they can pay us using a Book of Stamps, which is a primary form of currency in the system. 

The Inmate may pay a $25 fee and order up to 5 books at the actual costs and brand new, as a specific special request. Otherwise, we buy them used books in good or better condition, through companies like Amazon. We charge the Inmate or client the actual cost of the book, that is posted on the cover. Say it is a $20 book on cover, but we buy it for $12, then we make the $8 and the inmate or client pays just the normal price, while getting what they need. If there are people who want to buy books and donate to IS without it really costing them anything, other than to read a used book, rather than new, then please, just buy all your books through us, count that as a donation. Thank You!

We do have a separate charging mechanism with that as well for the time and energy. Each specific order just takes time to set up for 1 book, when you add another book or 4, then less time per book.

Fee Structure: That may be paid by mail via BP199 (Check in Feds) or books of stamps at $8 per book, stamps need to be usable and in good order.

The idea, is that we lower our fee by larger orders as our cost of time per book goes down. When you put together a 5 Book order between you and other inmates, then you get a $10 credit, that may be used towards other services, like the IS Concierge Service. By the way, those who have a little more funding available, you may use the Concierge Service to help you find the books that you want to read with a little bit of searching.

You may also order magazines through IS we do plan to do a special magazine offering via the mail.
